However, as a charter guests, you can make changes to any itinerary ahead of schedule and often times if weather permits, on the fly as well. Within The Bahamas, the Exuma Cays provides some of the most spectacular and breathtaking views which makes it the most popular charter destination. It is a journey of awe and adventure that will leave a lasting impression. here is an Exuma Yacht Charter Sample Itinerary

Allan's Cay

Your charter will typically begin in Nassau, Bahamas with a brief crew orientation before setting off towards the Exumas. Cruising across the Yellow Banks and dodging coral heads in the clear blue water you will arrive at Allen’s Cay just in time for sunset. Delight in a refreshing swim as dinner is prepared for you to enjoy under the stars. Explore the Allan’s Cay area and meet the Bahamian Iguanas that will scurry out to greet you on the beaches. Feed them a treat while you stand barefoot in the soft sand, enjoying the view of the crystal-blue waters. Allan’s Cay is referred to as the Bahamian Galapagos, with the iguanas scurrying along the beaches day and night.

Horseshoe Bay

Sail to nearby Highbourne Cay to enjoy the great geographic features of “Horseshoe Bay” with its beautiful deserted beach and fabulous reef, the “Octopus’ Garden”. Dinghy around to the charming marina, and watch nurse sharks congregate or relax in the hammocks on the beach. The protected waters of the nearby Exuma Sound create an ideal environment for scuba diving, snorkelling, and kayaking. For serious divers, the wreck of the 90-foot cutter Austin Smith is located in just about 60 feet of water.

Norman’s Cay

After a morning swim and a little beach combing, sail on to nearby “Hammerhead Gulch” for a spectacular snorkel or Scuba Dive. After an enjoyable lunch, continue south for your next island destination, Norman’s Cay. There are incredible bays, beaches, flats and lagoons to explore. Without any other boats around, this deserted paradise could entertain you for days! Do everything or nothing at all.

Shroud Cay

Cruise on the Exuma Sound, fishing along the way, to the Southern end of Norman’s Cay. Here you can explore the island’s ruins of an infamous drug runner and snorkel on the partially submerged airplane wreck. Colourful fish and coral have made a home in this unique snorkel site. “Twinkie Beach” is another highlight of this anchorage, with its lone palm tree, charming beach, and loads of seashells to collect. Learn to spear fish on the nearby coral heads or hire a local guide to bonefish in the flats.

Shroud Cay (day time)

Awake to a gorgeous sunrise and continue your journey South to Shroud Cay, within the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. A highlight of your charter will be the adventure through the mangrove rivers to the other side of the island. Snorkel, kayak, or jetski through this naturalist’s paradise. Explore the breathtaking beaches and climb to the top of “Camp Driftwood” for spectacular views. Experience the currents that create a natural water park or play in the gentle surf surrounded by endless shades of blue stretching from the sky to the crystal clear shallows. Sail on to Hawksbill for the night’s anchorage.

Warderick Wells

Warderick Wells, an old pirate’s hideaway, is your destination of the day. Home to the Headquarters of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, this island has miles of trails to explore as well as beaches, reefs, and tropical birds that eat straight out of your hand. This unique anchorage circles around a sandbar, and has strong currents that kids of all ages love to float in.

Compass Cay & Staniel Cay

Sail South to Rocky Dundas and discover several incredible caves perfect for snorkelling. The north end of Compass Cay is just minutes away, and is the home of “Rachel’s Bubble Bath” a natural whirlpool. Depending on the tide, this unique pool is either a flat, peaceful lagoon, or bubbling bath. Continue through the stunning shallow waters of Pipe Creek to arrive at Big Major’s Spot. If you are lucky, the famous swimming pigs will greet you in the water and on the beach. Big Major is where you’ll find Emily, a pig that has welcomed cruisers for years. Join your yacht’s crew in the tender as you approach the shore and Emily wades out to meet you – and be ready with carrot and celery sticks for when she hungrily places her front feet on your tender’s side. A Bahamas yacht charter here is something that will remain with you forever because Emily is the draw(you could put “the main attraction”). The pigs are unique to Big Major. Next, sail into nearby Staniel Cay, home to just 100 people, and anchor outside the “Thunderball Grotto”. Featured in the James Bond film with actor Sean Connery and “Never Say Never” film, this cave system’s colourful corals will make you feel as if you are in an aquarium and snorkel like super-spy 007. Explore the surrounding coves of Staniel Cay, stopping to visit the festive Staniel Cay Yacht Club in the evening.
